Brake noise

Brake noise

Does a Brake noise mean it’s time for brakes? The short answer is maybe. The long answer is it needs to be checked to make sure. Our business is in Bellflower, CA and we do brake repair and inspections daily. In our facility as a courtesy we do a free brake inspection to let you know if it’s time for brake repair or replacement or it’s just a noise that the brake pad is making when the brakes are applied. Often the noise that is head is just the vibration between the brake pad and the rotor. Brake pads and how the rotors were surfaced on your prior brake job can affect how much noise the brakes make. If the rotor finish is to rough is can cause excessive brake noise. The quality and compound of the brake pads can also have an effect on brake noise and performance. If in doubt have your brakes checked just to make sure you are not putting your family and others at risk. When it comes time for new brakes, a service advisor should be talking with you about ... read more

Getting my Drivers license

Getting my Drivers license

I wanted to share this speech I gave a while back about getting my drivers license Let me start by asking how many of you have a drivers license? I applied for and took my driver’s test just last year at the tender age of 39. After so many years getting my license was a scary proposition, I wasn’t sure I wanted to actually go through with it. I have worked on cars and engines since I was 8 years old. Why was this such a big deal. In February of last year I was ready to take my driving test, My drivers application was filled out, check Had a car to drive for the test, check I got my physical, check Booked my hotel room, check Assembled a team to help me for the weekend, check After a weekend of testing I finally got my license, I now have a license to drive 200 MPH. (pause) in 7 seconds. I now possessed a license that few people ever have a change to get. My license allowed me to drive open wheel dragsters ... read more

Using the wrong product in a diesel engine can dramatically shorten the useful life of the engine. Do Diesel engines need maintenance other than oil change? Diesel Engines do need maintenance just like any other mechanical machine. Diesel engines need less maintenance than a gas counterpart, but will still leave you stranded if not taken care of properly. Oil Change

Oil Change

The Phrase it’s time for an oil change is not something you probably ever want to deal with. An oil change is a necessary evil if you want to keep your car, truck or RV running for a long time. Think of an oil change as an insurance plan for your engine but unlike most insurance a routine oil change actually will extend the life of your engine. How often should you change your oil? Again doing a oil change can make all the difference in life of the engine. As a general rule at our facility we recommend every three months or 3,000 miles for standard organic motor oil. Some engines require synthetic motor oil; recommended interval is every 6 months or 6,000 miles. Can I use systemic motor oil if the engine does not require it? In most cases you can change to a synthetic oil and extend the useful time between oil changes. Ask your service advisor if it recommended for your vehicle. The advantage of going to a synthetic oil is longer time betwe ... read more

Bellflower Auto Repair Shops – What was your first car you drove around Bellflower?

Bellflower Auto Repair Shops – What was your first car you drove around Bellflower?

What was your first car? My first car that I was cruising around Bellflower in was a 1978 Ford Mustang. Of course, my family owned an auto repair shop, so my grandfather bought me a car out of the wrecking yard. It need a lot of work including replacing the motor and giving it a paint job. I replaced the stock V-6 motor and made it a little more fun! I wished years later I would have shoved a larger V-8 in it… Since it was my first car, big horse power is probably not what I needed….I got enough speeding tickets as it was. I had a hood scoop put on and a rear spoiler and painted it bright red… again probably not the best choice as far as getting unwanted police attention.I loved that car; it got me though high school. I thought I was “it” when I was driving. Unfortunately, it was one of those cars where you would fix one thing and something else would break. That’s probably why it was in the wrecking yard in the first place. We live and learn I guess, but at least ... read more

Seal Beach Car show April 26, 2014

Seal Beach Car Show April 26, 2014 Today was a great day for the Seal Beach Car Show. The weather was wonderful in the low 70′s with a slight breeze. The sun was shinning and the cars were roaring. We found this Austin Healey that was so happy to be at the show you would think it was smiling. (pictured to the left) This is the first time I have been to the seal beach car show in quite a while. My wife and two boys when out to the show with me to see what was what in the car trends among the custom car market. It’s always nice to see a hot rod, custom or stock vehicle we had a hand in working on. We have been involved in some pretty extreme vehicles. We currently have in the shop a 68 Camaro the customer plans on showing at SEMA Show in Las Vegas. This car is very cool with a 502 crate motor custom front tube frame and all kinds of custom touches you would have to see to believe. Anyway, the show was packed with people and a ton of vehicles to look at. I saw a ... read more
