Tech Tip Tuesday - January 30 No cost ways to increase your gas mileage! 1) Proper tire inflation will reduce rolling resistancesand will help maintain optimagas mileage. (see my tip on how to properly inflate your tires) 2) Don't use your Brakes! I kid, but if you use your brake less you can save on gas. Everytimeyou push on the brake pedal you are wasting potential energy. Try this instead, on the freeway do your best to avoid pushing the brake and coast until the speed picks back up. If you have the opportunity to coast instead of using the brake you use your potential energy instead of wasting in the form of heat from your brakes. 3) If it's a option travel at less busy times of the day. If you can maintain a steady speed you will conserve your fuel. 4) Don't drive over 65 MPH, I know freeway speeds are often 70 MPH plus. Studies have show that driving over 65 MPH greatly reduces fuel mileage, the fa ... read more

Tech Tip Tuesday - January23 Is waiting to the last minute to get gas costing you money? Running your vehicle low on fuel can cause damage to the fuel pump. Waiting until the gas gage is already past"E" can cause permanentdamage to the fuel pump. The reason this is happens is because on most modern vehicles the fuel pump is located inside the gas tank and was designed to have the fuel cool the pump during operation and also the fuel acts as a lubricant in the gears of the pump. When the fuel tank is extremely low on fuel it can't cool the pump and wear starts on the internals of the fuel pump. Best practice - do not run your vehicle with less than a 1/8 of a tank of fuel. Side note, if your vehicle is equipped with a external fuel filter it should be replaced ever 30,000 miles. A plugged or partiallyplugs fuel filter caused additional strain on the fuel pump. Tech Tip Tuesday This simple tip can save you from having a accident and costing your thousands in costly body damage repairs $$$$$. Tire pressure is important for a number of reasons but today I am going to focus on just one. Take a look at the photo of how tire inflation effects how much of your actual tire is touching the ground. The more tire tread that is touching the ground the more traction you will have. We need all the traction we can get when it starts raining like it did last night. What is the proper tire pressure for my car? On most newer cars the tire pressure is posted on a sticker in the drivers door jam. Just open the drivers door and look for a sticker that says tire pressure. The sticker could be on the door itself or the body side of the door jam. Your owners Manuel will also have the correct tire pressure for your vehicle. On older vehicle a general rule is 32 - 34 psi of air pressure ... read more
