Normal vs severe service, what maintenance schedule do you follow

Normal vs severe service, what maintenance schedule do you follow

Have you ever looked in you owners? Let me be a little more clear, have you ever taken time to look at the manufacture recommend maintenance schedule in your owner manuel? In most owners manuals usually toward the back of the book you will find recommend services for your vehicle. You will actually find two maintenance schedules for each mileage interval. In most manuals you will find Normal maintenance schedule and severe maintenance schedule. You would think you fall into the normal schedule but in most cases this is no so. In California we do a lot of stop and go driving and quick runs to the store or market. This type of driving is the hardest on the vehicle. This type of driving is considered severe service on the vehicle. You should be following the severe guide in your owner’s manual. What the Manufactures consider “Normal driving “ is long periods of consistent speeds. An example of this would be driving on the freeway @ 60 MPH for 45 minutes or longer. If ... read more

Normal vs severe service, what maintenance schedule do you follow

Reliable fleet service comes down to a few key items. The first and most important item is keep the fleet up and on the road with as little down time as possible. The second most important fleet items is ease of use. The finally the third most important fleet item is a reasonable price. Let me address each item individually. Keeping your fleet up and running is the key to you making money. Every hour that vehicle is not in service it is money flung out the window. Extended warranty

Extended warranty

Dealerships want you to believe that your extended warranties can only be used at the dealership. In most cases you can use your extended warranties or service contract at the repair facility of your choice. If you like the dealership you get your extended warranties serviced at, that is great. Sometimes the service you get at a dealership can be less than amazing. I know for instance at our shop we work hard to make the customer experience a great one. Like they always say read the fine print, if you’re unhappy with the service you’re receiving look at your contract and see what it says about where you can have your car serviced. If you need some assistance we would be more than happy to look at it for you. What does an extended warranty usually cover? Well that is a loaded question. All warranties are different. Often time when you are sold the warranty you have options on the coverage you are buying. The contract usually will spell out what is cover ... read more

Brake noise

Brake noise

Does a Brake noise mean it’s time for brakes? The short answer is maybe. The long answer is it needs to be checked to make sure. Our business is in Bellflower, CA and we do brake repair and inspections daily. In our facility as a courtesy we do a free brake inspection to let you know if it’s time for brake repair or replacement or it’s just a noise that the brake pad is making when the brakes are applied. Often the noise that is head is just the vibration between the brake pad and the rotor. Brake pads and how the rotors were surfaced on your prior brake job can affect how much noise the brakes make. If the rotor finish is to rough is can cause excessive brake noise. The quality and compound of the brake pads can also have an effect on brake noise and performance. If in doubt have your brakes checked just to make sure you are not putting your family and others at risk. When it comes time for new brakes, a service advisor should be talking with you about ... read more

I have worked on cars and engines since I was 8 years old. Why was this such a big deal. In February of last year I was ready to take my driving test, My drivers application was filled out, check Had a car to drive for the test, check I got my physical, check Booked my hotel room, check Assembled a team to help me for the weekend, check After a weekend of testing I finally got my license, I now have a license to drive 200 MPH. (pause) in 7 seconds. I now possessed a license that few people ever have a change to get. My license allowed me to drive open wheel dragsters ... read more
