It seems like it was just yesterday I would come to the shop as a kid and see my grandfather Leo and my Dad Joe working on cars and being amazed at what they could do. I started coming to work with my dad at about
the age 8, helping clean the shop, learning how to take stuff apart....any maybe put stuff back together. I loved coming to work with my dad, every day was new adventure. Cars have changed soooooooo much in the time I started coming here to today, not just a little but leaps and bounds. When I was a kid I would change spark plugs, install and set points and adjust carburetors was a typical day. Today we rarely do any of that, it's all about
computes, codes and wiring concerns. Many cars and trucks now have over 10 control modules making your vehicle do what is suppose to do in the background, without you ever knowing it. My job now is more dealing with computer
circuits than it is basic mechanical concerns.
The picture to the right was how Leo Henderson started in 1949 a small three bay shop ready to help people moving down the road. This picture is from the same address we are still on today. Leo kept buying up the surround property so he could grow the facility. The building you see still exist but have been moved from their original positions. Leo found 3 additional large building in Compton that he had moved to the site to create the show we now see today. The facility has grown and matured over the year to accommodate the needs of modern vehicles and a growing work staff. We have plans to add a additional building to better work on heavy duty trucks in our near future. Just like anything if you don't change you will be left behind. I have works hard to innovate and create what our customers expect out of a world class repair facility. A number of year ago we created a customer lounge that get rave reviews on yelp, everyone is blown away at what a typical repair show is compared to ours, if you have never seen it you should stop by just to check it out and grab a snack.
My grandfather and dad instilled in me and this company to treat customers with respect and offer a price that is reasonable for everyone. Are we the cheapest in town, no but we do only use the best parts and have trained qualified technicians doing all the repairs. We offer a standard no charge 3 year warranty because
we don't expect our repairs to fail in a long, long time. We often use better parts than came with your vehicle and it shows in how long our repairs last. The industry average warranty is 90 days, how much faith do they have in their repairs??
The picture to the right is a picture of me around the age of ten tearing down a engine. Happy as could be!
With age they say we mature, I think that is defiantly what Leo & Son Garage has done. Same great service of 70 years ago but able to handle the vehicles of today. The world has change immensely in 70 years, we have had to keep up and leap forward to meet that change.
